We had a long day ahead of us today. It started when we met back at the Sassenheim train station at 10:00am. We caught the train to Amsterdam Central. The plan for the day was simply that everyone had free time in Amsterdam to do with as they pleased. Everyone went off in their separate ways and did some sightseeing and shopping.
We met back at the meeting point (Dam Square) at 5:00pm. We then caught a bus to the Blauw-Wit clubhouse. Blauw-Wit is an Amsterdam Korfball Club (which translates into "Blue-White" the colours of their club). There we had a delicious dinner served for us and then we got ready for our first post-tournament game.

Game 9: NZ v Blauw-Wit - Post-Tournament .
We started warming up for our game against BW at 7:30pm and the game kicked off at 8:15pm. We played 2x 30 minute halves. It was a really long day of walking the streets of Amsterdam, but somehow, the team found the motivation to get their gear on and take to the court. In similar fashion to many of our other games, we started slow - it took about 10 minutes to get our heads in the game - and unfortunately by then, we were already 4-0 down! However, once the penny dropped, we were able to score 4 of our own and suddenly, we were 4-4 tied. The game was neck-and-neck for the most of the first half, even though we were playing no where near our best. The lethargy from the day's events had affected are smarts as we were not playing smart Korfball. We were 10-8 down at half time. We were frustrated as we knew that we were far better than what we were demonstrating on court. Unfortunately, that frustration got the better of some of the players on court and Blauw-wit were able to extend their lead to an unreachable point. There were some really great moments and towards the end of the game we found our mojo again, but it was too little too late.

After the game, we caught the train back to Sassenheim, it was a very late (and very wet) evening. It was around 11:00pm before everyone got back to their homes for some much needed rest.
